中间 (Grades 7-8)

The focus of the intermediate 程序 is to provide a solid foundation of academics and study habits to ensure that students are prepared for high school. Students are taught to prioritize their assignments, set goals for their learning and accept responsibility for the completion of their assignments. They learn how to study and how to prepare for exams. Exams are given in Language Arts, History, Geography, Mathematics, Science and 法国. The small class size provides many hands-on learning experiences for our students. It also allows for in-depth discussion and better communication between the students and their teachers.

Our Grade 7 and 8 students are taught leadership skills and are encouraged to accept leadership roles in our school. They are leaders in our Peace Groups, helpers on field trips and positive role models during reading groups.

每年, Kanata学院 intermediate students are invited to participate in the Queen’s University “种子”住校 程序. This is an incredible opportunity for students as it introduces them to many aspects of higher learning. Students are required to choose, register for and attend classes at the university. For three days and two nights, students stay at Queen's and participate in activities with students and teachers from other schools.

The Grade 7 and 8 students also participate in the University of Waterloo Gauss Math Contest each year. The Gauss contest is an opportunity for students to strengthen their mathematical problem solving skills. Questions on the Gauss are based on the curriculum that is common to all provinces.
